It's cool to save Money!

We had such a fun time, today, at the treehouse. Like most days, we played four corners, as well as hide and seek, which we love to do. "It's cool to save money!" so we also got to color and put together our very own piggy bank. 

Here, we are coloring our piggy banks, before we put them together.

Lailah and Gabriel are finished coloring and ready to tape all the sides to complete their piggy banks.

These are our piggy banks. Now all that is needed to complete them, is some money to go inside!

Keepin' it Cool!

Water play is very popular here at the Treehouse. It's the perfect way to cool off on these hot summer days. Here's how we keep it cool! Don't forget to wear sunscreen! :)

Puffy Paint!

What happens when you find shaving cream, glue, and liquid water colors in the same room? You mix it all together and make PUFFY PAINT!

We love painting with puffy paint at the treehouse. It's a great way to be creative, using something other than regular watercolors.

It's even better when it dries, because it makes our masterpieces feel like cotton when you touch them. It's so cool! 

Here's how you make it:

Add a generous amount of shaving cream into a bowl. Add three tablespoons of white liquid glue. Then add liquid water color paint. Mix the ingredients together until it turns into a "whipped cream" like substance and VOILA...puffy paint! :)

***You can also use food coloring if you don't have liquid paint.

Field Trip Adventures

Summer Quest has started off great! We have been on five awesome field trips already, and there's even more to come.

Here's some snapshots of some of the field trips we have gone on. 

Our first field trip was to the new and improved Southeast Branch Library! We had so much fun acting out the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. It was hilarious! 

Things got a little bit wild at the Nashviile Zoo. We saw so many of our favorite animals such as Kangaroos, Elephants, and Flamingos! 

We can't forget about the amazing time we had learning about Sam Davis at his very home! We learned so many things about Mr. Davis and the time period he lived in. Can you imagine living in a time period with no video games?! We can't either! ;)

Welcome Summer!

Summer has finally arrived at the treehouse! We have been out enjoying the sun, fun, and fellowship with our friends.

To end off the school year, we had a "end of school" snack made by Ms. Becca. It sure was yummy! 

Once Summer Quest officially began we learned about ant habitats. We had so much fun creating our habitat and finding ants to live in there. It was interesting to see how our hypothesis about what the ants will do to the gel, matched with what really happened. Science is awesome! 

We are so excited for the rest of the summer and the fun events to come! Stay tuned! :) 

Learning with Legos

We don't know about you, but we go loco for Legos! It's our favorite thing to do whenever we have the chance. We love to build whatever comes to our mind, whether it's a building, robot, or dinosaur! Even better, playing with legos helps build our fine motor and problem-solving skills.

Check out this excerpt from Education Magazine: 

"True to its name, Lego pieces allow for an astonishing range of creative play opportunities. Beyond the fun factor, for younger children, the brightly colored pieces and easily interlocking combinations provide hours of patterning practice and fine-motor development. Looking for just the right piece strengthens sorting skills, a key part of the kindergarten math curriculum. And for all kids, Lego teaches how to think in three dimensions-- a precursor to physics. Children of all ages also hone creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork through Lego play."

Spring Break Fun: Part II :)

Hello! Though spring break has come and gone, we want to share some more fun shots of how we spent it! 

We read a really cool legend about an Indian who used the inspiration of the nature around him to paint beautiful pictures. This made us think of all the colors and nature we see during Spring, which inspired us to paint our own "spring-time" creations. 

 

 It was so fun! We were able to mix certain colors to create the perfect masterpiece. One of our friends decided to paint a sunset!
